HVAC Tools & Equipment / Johnstone Supply
« on: January 13, 2016, 10:18:18 AM »
Johnstone Supply is another great place to buy HVAC tools. Once you have your universal EPA certification you can make an account with Johnstone Supply and start buying HVAC tools and equipment. I usually go to the one on Westpark because it's closest to Houston Trade Training. You can visit their website on the following link:
Johnstone Supply

I usually will go to another AC supply store to get copper and capacitors because they are usually cheaper elsewhere, but I go to Johnstone Supply for all of my tools and equipment. They always have a monthly sales magazine on their front counters with specials for each month. It's a good idea to check these out because they can save you hundreds on your HVAC tools.
Aside from the tools donated to HTT we've got the majority of our HVAC training equipment from Johnstone Supply such as: AC Condensers, Air Handlers, Furnaces, Recovery Machines, Vacuum Pumps, Refrigerant Leak Detectors, Hydraulic Flaring Kits, Gauges, Electronic Refrigerant Gauges, Service Wrenches, Brazing Torch Sets, Oxygen Exchange, Acetylene Exchange, Nitrogen Exchange, Silver Solder, Solderless Piercing Valves, Access Valves, Ductboard, Metal AC Tape, Duct Tape, Copper 90s, Tubing Cutters, Various Hand Tools, and much more.

As a bonus, Johnstone Supply has an occasional prize drawing. They usually have a free raffle for various items, so take a minute to fill one out each time you stop by. A few months ago I went there to get some tools for HVAC class and they told me I had won the YETI cooler! So from firsthand experience, these giveaways are definitely possible to win! It is a great cooler by the way...although I'd never spend $400 on a cooler..

« on: January 12, 2016, 02:26:44 PM »
Johnson Supply is a good place to get HVAC tools.
In 2014 when Houston Trade Training was getting broken into a lot when we had the location on Antoine, Johnson Supply came to the rescue and donated quite a bit of HVAC tools and equipment to HTT in our time of need.
Thank you Johnson Supply

Advanced Hands-on HVAC / Re: Completely hands-on training! EPA required
« on: January 06, 2016, 10:09:33 AM »
As Houston Trade Training grows and becomes more popular in the Houston area, expansion is always in mind. Houston Trade Training not only overs HVAC classes to all Houston area residents and anybody else willing to travel, but HTT is currently revising the electrician curriculum and working on a curriculum for an advanced / hands-on HVAC training class for students wanting to continue their education before entering the field as an HVAC technician.
The electrician curriculum should be complete and ready after the second quarter of 2016, when HTT starts taking registrations for electrician class again. HTT will first contact all people who left an inquiry, stated interest in the class, and members of the website to enroll the first new electric class.
Around the same time HTT will also be opening up a location in Dallas, TX and offering the Advanced hands-on HVAC training class. The Dallas location will be creatively named "HTT Dallas". The advanced HVAC class will mainly consist of troubleshooting, tricks of the trade, additional selling points, and the installation of those parts. Students in this class will first need to have their Universal EPA Certification and demonstrate the ability to perform all of the HVAC practices learned in our standard HVAC training class. The Advanced hands-on class will expand on these abilities and introduce new methods to elevate your confidence as an HVAC technician.
